The Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz) indicated on its official Twitter social network account that armed groups killed two people in the municipal capital of Miranda, Cauca.

One of the victims was identified as Neider Andrés Collazos Gutiérrez, 21, while the other is a woman who has not yet been identified, the non-governmental organization (NGO) added.

He pointed out that another man was murdered in the village of Guatemala, which leads from the municipality of Miranda to Corinto.

“The three people killed were apparently homeless, in what would be a ‘social cleansing’ plan,” said Indepaz.

He stressed that the Ombudsman’s Office has warned that since 2019 the misnamed “social cleansings” have increased in the municipality of Miranda, and the risk to rural communities has increased due to the presence of armed actors in the territory.

The NGO recalled that at the end of 2021, 96 massacres were recorded in Colombia.

Indepaz also reported that in the municipality of Buenos Aires, in Cauca, this Friday the murder of the first Colombian social leader so far this year was recorded.

He reported that armed men attacked a group of indigenous guards when they were carrying out territorial control tasks in the Las Delicias reservation, in Cauca.

The criminals killed the member of the Nasa indigenous guard, Guillermo Chicana, while they wounded Fabián Camayo, who is the current coordinator of the Las Delicias reservation.

Chicana became the first Colombian social leader assassinated so far in 2022 and number 1,287 since the signing of the Peace Agreement in September 2016, Indepaz recalled.
