Transmontana Easter that is Transmontana Easter has to have folar and kid | Gastronomy

The two main Easter products from Trás-os-Montes will be highlighted in Carrazeda de Ansiães at the Cabrito Festival and at the Folar Fair, which this year is part of the Douro European City of Culture programme.

This municipality in the Trás-os-Montes district resumes, after two years of restrictions due to the pandemic, the face-to-face format of the two events, which take place in Easter week, as announced by the City Council.

The municipality, which is the promoter, highlights the novelty this year, the Folar and Products Fair of Carrazeda de Ansiães integrating the program of the Douro European City of Wine initiative, which takes place, throughout the year, in the municipalities of Intermunicipal Community (CIM) Douro.

“Folar is the king product that gives name to the event to which other products from the land, gastronomy and, mainly, wine are added”, says the municipality, in a statement.

The fair takes place at the Business Center and, in addition to the traditional meatloaf, will also include gastronomy, wines and musical shows, according to the organization.

The event has an area dedicated exclusively to baking, with producers of traditional folar, and exhibitors with other types of products, namely pastries, jams, sausages, liqueurs, wine, olive oil, honey and other food and agricultural products.

An outdoor tent is intended for the “more recreational” area, with a stage for entertainment, small taverns with food service and exhibitors of local wine.

So that families can enjoy the event with peace of mind, the organization has prepared a space inside the Carrazeda de Ansiães Business Support Center “where children can have fun, in complete safety, with the monitoring and surveillance of monitors”.

“The Folar and Products of the Earth Fair aims to be an opportunity to commercialize the products existing in the municipality of Carrazeda de Ansiães, especially folar, thus contributing to promote the local economy, culture, traditions and tourism”, according to the municipality.

In the same week as Easter, the Goat Festival takes place in the county’s restaurants, which, “in addition to being a typical Easter dish, is typical in this county”.

During the period in which the festival takes place, for every 30 euros spent on goat meals, the municipality offers a bottle of wine and a glass alluding to the territory.

“The municipality, aware of its economic importance, both for catering and production, encourages consumption, not only by residents, as happened in the pandemic period, but also by visitors, promoting this festival as a way to attract people to the municipality “, he refers.
