Energy dropped, but was restored by the concessionaire then, second resident
A tree that fell during the night blocked a direction from Rua Engenheiro Américo Carvalho Baís, between Rua Comercial and Rua Yokohama, in Bairro Santo Amaro. Two teams from the Fire Department are working this afternoon to clear the Centro-Bairro direction.
As the tree is medium-sized, the removal work should take at least two hours. The firefighters’ forecast is to release the runway around 4 pm.
According to Fire Department sub-lieutenant Maximiliano Barros, the tree is about eight meters long. “During the fall, at dawn today, the tree reached some power lines, but the concessionaire has probably already solved it. We are going to withdraw in order to release the road”, he said.
Resident of the street, the retired, Vatotin Domingues, 75, said that yesterday it rained all day in the neighborhood. “Besides, this tree already had termites. I believe that was why it fell in the bud. Thank God it didn’t fall during the day, because if it had fallen it could have hurt someone. During the night, the street is empty”, he commented.
According to the resident, the surrounding houses ran out of power, but a team from the Energisa concessionaire came right after the accident, removed branches from the wiring and restored the power.
