Development of boxing and support for athletes were discussed in Sochi during the meeting of the President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas and President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA, AIBA) Umar Kremleva… Note that immediately before the meeting with the Kremlin, Abbas held talks with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
According to the Kremlin, the development of boxing in Palestine is the most important task of AIBA, therefore he called the meeting with Abbas very important in the context of the implementation of the goals facing the parties.
Kremlev added that in such a universal sport as boxing, everyone should have the opportunity to develop existing skills and regularly train. He noted the serious potential of boxers from Palestine, and AIBA is obliged to fully contribute to its implementation.
In turn, Abbas thanked the Kremlin for his help in the development of boxing in Palestine. According to him, at the moment the country’s authorities are paying a lot of attention to this sport, despite the fact that until recently the country was simply not up to it, and the pace of development of boxing and sports in general was very modest. The Palestinian leadership stands ready to provide support on a range of issues. Thus, it is planned to introduce the discipline “boxing” into the curriculum of schools and universities, as well as to build a boxing academy in the country. Abbas expressed his hope for long-term and productive cooperation between Palestine and AIBA.
At the end of the meeting, the Palestinian Boxing Federation received 500 pairs of boxing gloves from the Kremlin.
