The Verdi union has praised VfB Stuttgart for the first works council election in history.
Stuttgart – The Verdi union held the first works council election in the history of the VfB Stuttgart welcomed.
With the election of a nine-person representative on Tuesday for the approximately 330 employees, the Bundesliga club was “a role model for the league,” said union secretary Steve Schröder from Verdi Stuttgart on Wednesday.
“That is good for the VfB employees,” said the Verdi regional director, Martin Gross. “And that is also very good news for thousands of fans. Companies with a works council are more successful.”
According to the union, after the Champions League participants Borussia Dortmund and VfL Wolfsburg, VfB is only the third Bundesliga club with a workforce representation.

The constituent meeting at VfB is scheduled for next week.
He wishes that SC Freiburg and the TSG 1899 Hoffenheim would set up a works council, said Gross.
