Last Saturday, the Crèchére stadium in La Rabatelière, Vendée, hosted a very special amateur football match. In front of a little more than 1,250 spectators, the original poster set up by the FC Chavagnes opposed the bald to the hairy.
The meeting was organized within the framework of the operation Vrai Foot Day, which highlights amateur football. In addition, a prize pool of 1000 euros was collected during the afternoon in favor of an association creating natural wigs to help people affected by cancer.
“The idea was to make a smiling project around amateur football, its values of cohesion and sharing. We are a fairly festive club so we immediately jumped into the breach”, said Corentin Rousseau, co-organizer of the project, at the microphone of France 3.
Two former professional players have accepted the invitation of the bald people: Benjamin Nivet, former player of Troyes and sponsor of the event, as well as Steeve Elana, ex-goalkeeper of the Brest and Lille team.
The game, played in a friendly and sympathetic spirit, ended with the score of 3-3, the bald spots emerging during the penalty shootout. Images of the afternoon are to be found on the RMC website.
