There has been a lull in the tourist market: the “velvet season” is over, and the pre-New Year period has not yet arrived. Tourists travel less around the country, air tickets have become more affordable, so now there is a good opportunity to travel at affordable prices. In addition, the average cost of air travel from mid-November to the end of December to the most popular destinations in Russia decreased by 20-60% compared to last year, representatives of the travel industry told Rossiyskaya Gazeta. They named the most popular destinations and indicated to which cities the flights fell the most.
On business from Moscow
First of all, flights from the capital to various regions of the country have significantly dropped in price. According to travel planning service OneTwoTrip, the average cost of a ticket with a departure from November 20 to December 31 decreased the most in the Moscow – Voronezh direction. Compared to the prices for the same period last year, the flight has fallen in price by 43.6% and now costs 3.1 thousand rubles per person one way, said the representative of the company Elena Shelekhova.
At affordable prices in December, you can fly from Moscow on business or to visit relatives, to Tomsk, Omsk, Chelyabinsk, Ulyanovsk, Makhachkala. Compared to last year, tickets to these cities have fallen in price by 30-40%. A one-way flight to Tomsk costs an average of 4.9 thousand rubles per passenger, to Omsk – 4.3 thousand rubles, to Chelyabinsk – 3.6 thousand rubles, to Makhachkala – 2.9 thousand rubles, and to Ulyanovsk – only 2.7 thousand rubles.
South is always in trend
Even in the “low season” travel to the south of Russia can be attractive. The average ticket to the most popular resorts has also declined. Flights at the end of November and December from Moscow to Anapa fell by 33% compared to the same period last year and now cost an average of 5.1 thousand rubles. You can get to Sochi for 3.5 thousand rubles, prices have decreased by 15.3%, a flight to Krasnodar will cost 3.8 thousand rubles, 16.8% less than in 2020.
Sochi remains one of the most popular tourist destinations even in December, says Alexei Volkov, president of the All-Russian Union of the Hospitality Industry. This destination accounts for about half of all bookings for December. Also, according to him, significant shares of bookings fall on St. Petersburg and Moscow. In the capitals, travelers want to stroll the streets with festive illumination.
To the first snow
Since the end of November, travelers have been flocking to ski resorts. And they go there not only for skiing. Many tourists want to get to the mountains to breathe fresh air and walk in the fresh snow. In addition to Krasnaya Polyana, Sheregesh, Dombay, Arkhyz are popular in the Sochi mountain cluster. By the way, a flight in December to Mineralnye Vody – the closest airport to both Arkhyz and Dombai – from Moscow will cost 3.2 thousand rubles, 20% cheaper than a year ago.
And you can fly to the Sheregesh resort with a charter flight as part of a comprehensive tour. The tour operator TUI launches the charter program from 13 November. Thanks to this, flights become significantly cheaper than regular flights.
If you don’t need to fly far
Tickets for regular flights between regions have also become cheaper. Here the flight from St. Petersburg to Tomsk has dropped the most – by 63%, from 11.6 thousand rubles to 4.2 thousand rubles, a representative of the travel and travel service Tutu.ru said. Flights to Perm, Kaluga, Orenburg, Arkhangelsk have also become more accessible from St. Petersburg. Prices have decreased on average by 20-45%. Flights on these routes at the end of November and December cost from 2.5 to 4.5 thousand rubles, depending on the distance.
There is also a drop in airfare on resort destinations. Flights from Tyumen to Simferopol fell the most – by 59%, to 5.1 thousand rubles. By the way, Crimea is also one of the most popular travel destinations even in December.
